With the company, ‘contact to design Muench Furniture Design‘, which has an in-house furniture carpentry workshop in Elztal-Dallau Southern Germany, and a headquarters in Berlin, the couple, Michael Muench and Ute Hartmann have fulfilled their lifelong dream. The craftsmen produce furni- ture with loving skill. The carpentry master and designer, Michael Muench, has always been convinced that furniture doesn’t just have to be furniture. People are individual, have their own style. Why isn’t it possible for every piece of furniture to be distinctive, tailored to every individual’s lifestyle? For more than 20 years, a business has developed from this very idea, currently with companies worldwide, and it has followed an incomparable philosophy. Living is no longer just living; it means individuality, authenticity and beauty. Living means to be truly alive. The scope of the company is wide; from the planning of individual room concepts and furniture design, to furniture manufacture and gilding craftsmanship. The road which leads into the city of Dallau in Elztal is idyllic. This is where the in-house carpentry, with design office and show room, is situated. You drive along the river Neckar in the beautiful South of Germany where the revolutionary ideas had their origin. Upon entering the building you are right in the show room and looking at some of the most extraordinary furniture artworks – the ‘an- tiquities of tomorrow’. All of themwith design pro- tection; registered in the German Patent and Trademark Office. They are the exact opposite of today’s conventional furniture. All of the furniture is characterised by high-quality surface design and has been drafted in 360-degree design. They can be looked at from any angle and don’t need to be placed right beside the wall, but can stand in the room like a sculpture At ‘contact to design – MUENCH Furniture Design‘, nearly everything is possible, the one-of-a-kind pieces can be transformed into collector’s items, with value in their artistic processing by refining them with gemstones, precious metals or airbrush art. ‘My drafts are the irresistible invitation to all the people who put emphasis on underscoring their very personal style. This is why none of my furniture art objects resembles another. Every one of them reflects the individual’s personality.’ Michael Münch
