This is what Johannes King has just made come true as well. Together with his live-in girlfriend, Selina Müller, the elite chef of the Söl’ring Hof opened his own little shop in Rantum a short time ago – with products that are close to the heart of the two of them; from rose jelly made of blossoms from Sylt, to oysters growing off List, to sensationally great port wine. Under the slogan, “There is a new ingredient to con- venience food – taste“, you can also buy snacks and there is (not only) for owners of holiday residences, a gourmet delivery service as well. Fresh, seasonal and surprising, of course! Even the junior chefs in Sylt let themselves be in- spired by such a taste bombardment. Those who head for the golf course of Keitum, for example, will meet the Madagascan-born Nino Jackona who has served fresh global cuisine there since this spring. When the weather allows it, people eat parsnip-coconut cream soup with sate skewers or grilled scampi on tomato-vanilla chutney and Text+Fotos: Brigitte Jurczyk Newcomer Nino Jackona vom Karnaths Restaurant im Golfclub Sylt Newcomer, Nino Jackona of the Karnaths restaurant in the Golfclub Sylt enjoy the far-reaching views across the green to the black and white striped lighthouse of Kam- pen, while having a glass of Riesling. Sometimes Sarah Henke goes home just before midnight though she is still hungry. By then, the South-Korean-born chef who grew up in Lower Saxony, had cooked for other people all day long. “Sometimes, I simply don’t have time to eat!” says the fine-boned young woman, who fills the plates with her small, colourful artworks from the Asian world of flavours, in the restaurant Spices, in the A-Rosa Resort. She has just been elected the newcomer of the year 2013, by Gault Millau. Is she reaching for the stars? The 31-year- old remains silent and smiles quietly.
